Job Description



Responsibilities



  • Manage the entire procurement process for the farm, including feed mill supplies (grains, supplements, additives), equipment (agricultural machinery, tools, repairs), and farm supplies (seeds, fertilizers, herbicides, animal housing, crates, etc.).

  • Source and qualify new vendors for animals (livestock, poultry), pharmaceuticals (veterinary drugs), and other farm-specific needs.

  • Negotiate contracts with vendors to secure the best pricing, terms, and delivery schedules.

  • Maintain strong relationships with existing vendors, fostering open communication and ensuring consistent service.

  • Oversee the purchasing of seedlings, plant materials, and other nursery/greenhouse supplies (if applicable).

  • Conduct thorough market research to stay updated on industry trends, pricing fluctuations, and potential cost savings.

  • Develop and implement procurement strategies to optimize sourcing and supplier selection processes.

  • Coordinate with internal departments (production, finance, operations) to understand and fulfill their requirements efficiently.

  • Manage inventory levels for all purchased materials, ensuring timely restocking and preventing overstocking.

  • Maintain accurate and detailed records of all procurement transactions, contracts, and vendor information.

  • Prepare and submit procurement reports to management as needed.


Requirements



  • Bachelor's degree in Agricultural Business, Supply Chain Management, or a related field (preferred).

  • Minimum of 2-3 years of experience in procurement, purchasing, or a related field.

  • Proven track record of successfully negotiating contracts and securing cost-effective purchases.

  • Strong analytical and problem-solving skills.

  • Excellent communication, interpersonal, and negotiation skills.

  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite and a farm management software system (a plus).

  • Understanding of agricultural practices and terminology (a plus).

  • Valid driver's license.
