Key Responsibilities:
Provide Legal Consultations:
- Conduct bi-weekly legal aid clinics offering free legal consultations and advice.
- Handle individual cases, including legal advice on issues related to family law, GBV, land disputes, and other civil matters.
- Keep records of consultations, cases, and outcomes.
Raise Legal Awareness:
- Organize and lead 3 legal rights awareness campaigns over the 6-month period.
- Educate vulnerable populations on their legal rights, with a focus on IDPs, women, and survivors of GBV.
Case Management and Referrals:
- Provide basic case management for legal cases.
- Refer complex cases to relevant legal aid organizations or government entities where appropriate.
Collaborate with Local Actors:
- Liaise with local authorities, community leaders, and other humanitarian actors to ensure coordination of legal aid services.
- Establish and maintain strong relationships with stakeholders, including legal aid organizations, local courts, and law enforcement agencies.
Documentation and Reporting:
- Submit regular reports on the number of consultations held, case types, and outcomes.
- Prepare monthly reports on project activities and a final project evaluation report.
Required Qualifications and Experience:
- A Degree in Law (LL.B) and a Call to the Nigerian Bar (BL) from the Nigerian Law School.
- Minimum of 2 years of post-call experience in providing legal aid or handling civil cases, especially in humanitarian settings or with vulnerable populations.
- Demonstrated understanding of human rights, family law, and GBV legal frameworks.
- Experience working in conflict-affected areas is an advantage.
- Excellent communication skills, with fluency in English and Hausa. Knowledge of Kanuri is an added advantage.
- Strong analytical, case management, and documentation skills.
- Ability to work in a challenging and dynamic environment.
