Job Description
We are seeking a highly organized and detail-oriented individual to join our finance team as an Accounts Payable Support Officer in the oil and gas industry. This role is critical in providing efficient support to the accounts payable function and ensuring accurate and timely processing of vendor
payments.
Essential
- Assist in the processing and verification of invoices, purchase orders, and other payment documentation
- Code and input invoices into the accounting system, ensuring proper allocation to cost centers and accounts
- Prepare and organize payment batches for review and processing
- Maintain accurate and up-to-date vendor records and files
- Reconcile vendor statements and investigate discrepancies or issues
- Respond to vendor inquiries and requests for information in a timely and professional manner
- Assist in month-end and year-end closing processes and financial reporting
- Support the accounts payable team with ad-hoc tasks and projects as needed
- Ensure compliance with company policies, procedures, and accounting standards
- Identify opportunities for process improvements and cost optimization
Requirement For Consideration:
- Bachelor's degree in Accounting, Finance, or a related field from an accredited institution
- Minimum of 2 years of experience in accounts payable support or a similar role, preferably in the oil and gas sector
- Familiarity with accounting software like SAP or similar ERP systems
- Strong attention to detail and excellent data entry skills
- Good analytical and problem-solving abilities
- Effective communication and interpersonal skills
- Computer literacy and proficiency in Microsoft Excel
- Possession of an ICAN (Institute of Chartered Accountants of Nigeria) certification is an added advantage
