Job Description:
A fine art tutor provides personalized guidance, fosters creative expression, teaches various art techniques and mediums, and encourages artistic exploration and development in students.
Responsibilities:
- Teaching Art Techniques: Instructing students in various art forms such as drawing, painting, sculpture, printmaking, or mixed media, demonstrating techniques, and providing guidance to improve their skills.
- Individualized Instruction: Offering personalized guidance and support to students based on their artistic abilities, interests, and developmental needs.
- Curriculum Development: Creating and planning art lessons, projects, and exercises that align with the curriculum, fostering creativity and skill development.
- Critique and Feedback: Providing constructive criticism and feedback on students' artwork to help them refine their techniques, enhance creativity, and develop their artistic style.
- Art History and Theory: Introducing students to art history, theory, and the exploration of different artistic movements, providing context for their own artistic practice.
- Portfolio Development: Assisting students in building and organizing their portfolios for college applications, exhibitions, or professional purposes.
- Organizing Exhibitions and Displays: Arranging showcases, exhibitions, or displays to present students' artwork, promoting their work within the community or school environment.
- Maintaining Studio Environment: Ensuring a safe, organized, and well-equipped studio space with necessary art supplies and resources for students.
- Encouraging Creativity: Inspiring and nurturing students' creativity, encouraging experimentation, and helping them discover their unique artistic voice.
- Communication and Collaboration: Communicating effectively with students, parents, and colleagues, collaborating with other art professionals or instructors to enhance the learning experience.
Required Skills:
- Artistic Proficiency: Mastery and expertise in various art forms such as drawing, painting, sculpture, or other mediums taught to effectively demonstrate and instruct students.
- Teaching Ability: The skill to convey complex artistic techniques and concepts in a clear, understandable, and engaging manner suitable for students of different skill levels and ages.
- Individualized Instruction: Ability to provide personalized guidance, mentorship, and support to students, catering to their unique learning styles, strengths, and weaknesses.
- Critique and Feedback: Capacity to offer constructive criticism and feedback on students' artwork to aid in their improvement and artistic development.
- Creativity and Innovation: Encouraging and fostering creativity, inspiring students to experiment, explore new artistic styles, and think outside conventional boundaries.
- Art History and Theory Knowledge: Familiarity with art history, theory, and understanding of various artistic movements, enabling contextualization and broadening students' perspectives.
- Communication Skills: Effective communication with students, colleagues, and parents/guardians to convey artistic concepts, provide feedback, and discuss progress.
- Organizational Skills: Ability to plan lessons, manage time, and maintain an organized studio environment with necessary art supplies and resources.

Education/Experience
- B. Ed in Fine Art and Other Relevant Certification.
- Firm understanding and practical experience of the Nigerian Curriculum
- Minimum of Six Years Experience
