Position Overview
- The Maintenance Officer is responsible for conducting routine inspections, performing preventive maintenance, and executing repair work to keep Norsworthy Farms’ equipment and facilities in optimal condition.
- This role is essential to minimizing downtime and ensuring that our production processes operate smoothly.
- The ideal candidate will have a solid understanding of mechanical, electrical, and general maintenance work, along with a commitment to safety and quality.
Key Responsibilities
Preventive Maintenance:
- Carry out scheduled preventive maintenance on machinery and equipment to minimize unexpected breakdowns.
- Inspect production machinery and other equipment regularly, identifying potential issues and addressing them proactively.
- Ensure all equipment is calibrated, lubricated, and adjusted according to operational standards.
Repairs and Troubleshooting:
- Respond promptly to equipment malfunctions, diagnosing and resolving mechanical and electrical issues in a timely manner.
- Repair or replace defective parts, such as motors, bearings, belts, or gears, to ensure machinery is operational.
- Collaborate with the maintenance team to troubleshoot complex issues and minimize production downtime.
Facility Maintenance:
- Conduct regular inspections and maintenance of building infrastructure, including plumbing, electrical, and HVAC systems.
- Perform minor repairs on doors, floors, lighting, and other facility components as needed.
- Coordinate with external contractors for specialized repairs or complex maintenance projects.
Record-Keeping and Reporting:
- Maintain accurate records of maintenance activities, including repairs, parts replacements, and preventive maintenance tasks.
- Prepare maintenance logs and submit reports to the Maintenance Manager on completed work and outstanding issues.
- Monitor inventory of spare parts, tools, and supplies, requesting replenishments as needed.
Health, Safety, and Compliance:
- Adhere to all safety protocols and company regulations, including lockout/tagout (LOTO) procedures during maintenance activities.
- Ensure compliance with local and industry safety standards to maintain a safe work environment for all employees.
- Participate in safety and training programs, staying current with best practices in maintenance and workplace safety.
Qualifications
Education:
- HND or BEng. in Mechanical Engineering, Electrical Engineering, Industrial Maintenance, or a related field. A higher qualification is an advantage.
Experience:
- Minimum of 3 years of experience in a maintenance role, preferably within the agricultural or manufacturing sectors.
- Hands-on experience with maintenance and repair of industrial machinery, HVAC systems, and facility infrastructure.
Skills:
- Strong mechanical and electrical troubleshooting skills, with the ability to repair and maintain complex equipment.
- Familiarity with preventive maintenance practices and tools, as well as knowledge of basic plumbing and carpentry.
- Ability to read and interpret technical manuals, blueprints, and electrical schematics.
