Job Description







  • To be successful as an accounting officer, you should have knowledge of accounting competencies and administration skills. Ultimately, a high-quality Accounting Officer should be able to successfully contribute to the organization's financial efficiency while maintaining records of expenditure and profits accurately.



Responsibilities:




  • Maintaining and reviewing financial records.

  • Ensuring compliance with accounting laws, tax laws and filings.

  • Preparing budgets regularly.

  • Monitoring expenditure and profits and providing reports.

  • Evaluating internal management systems, procedures, and risks to provide recommendations.

  • Managing business accounts, preparing financial statements, and analyzing key financial data.

  • Prepare financial reports on a determined schedule.

  • Present financial reports and estimates to decision makers within the organization.

  • Utilize technical skills to create charts and graphs for visual understanding.

  • Research current economic and financial outlook.

  • Provide solutions to accounting issues as they arise.

  • Investigate and provide feedback on accounting irregularities.

  • Reconcile vendors and user account per transaction basis.

  • Ensure all transaction are reconciled with payment gateways at the transaction & accounting level.

  • Ensure all transaction is reconciled with clients at the transaction level and accounting level.

  • Ensure all receipts via all mode of payments are reconciled daily within the time allotted.

  • Identify and investigate the root cause of settlement discrepancies and ensure timely resolution.



Requirements: 




  • A degree in Accounting or similar.

  • Previous working experience as an Accounting Officer or in a similar role.

  • Knowledge and competency in accounting principles.

  • Proficiency in management systems.

  • Sound interpersonal skills and Critical thinking skills.

  • Proficiency in accounting software and payment gateways.

  • Critical math skills and a proven ability to difficult calculations.

  • Strong familiarity with productivity tools such as Microsoft Office Suite.

  • Prior experience using database tools and spreadsheet software.

  • Experience using data visualization tools.

  • Ability to quickly learn industry-related regulations and utilize information in written reports.

  • Comfort preparing and delivering reports to decision makers.



Skills & Competencies

  • Experience reconciling accounting figures and financial records.

  • Account receivables and Account Payables

  • Ability to identify errors.

  • Appropriate handling of sensitive information.

  • Ability to work to deadlines.

  • High level of attention to detail.

  • Strong client relationship management and customer service skills.

  • Team player with the ability to work with multiple parties.

  • Intermediate to advanced computer software skills, including Excel and Accounting packages.

  • Maths and Analytical & Complex problem solving.
