We are seeking a detail-oriented and efficient Maintenance Officer to join our organisation in Benin City, Nigeria. The successful candidate will be responsible for overseeing and coordinating all aspects of facility maintenance to ensure a safe, functional, and well-maintained working environment.
- Develop and implement comprehensive preventive maintenance programmes for all building systems and equipment
- Conduct regular inspections of facilities to identify maintenance needs and potential safety hazards
- Coordinate and oversee maintenance and repair work, ensuring timely completion and adherence to quality standards
- Manage and prioritize maintenance requests from staff and students
- Maintain accurate records of maintenance activities, inventory, and expenses
- Ensure compliance with all relevant safety regulations and building codes
- Collaborate with external contractors and service providers when necessary
- Prepare and manage maintenance budgets, optimizing costs without compromising quality
- Participate in long-term planning for facility improvements and upgrades
Qualifications
- Bachelor's degree in Facilities Management, Engineering, or a related field
- Minimum 3-5 years of experience in facility maintenance or a related role
- Proficiency in maintenance management systems and Microsoft Office suite
- Strong knowledge of building systems, including HVAC, electrical, and plumbing
- Demonstrated ability to read and interpret technical manuals and blueprints
- Excellent problem-solving skills with a proactive approach to maintenance issues
- Strong organisational and time management skills
- Outstanding written and verbal communication abilities
- In-depth understanding of safety regulations and preventive maintenance practices
- Familiarity with local building codes and regulations in Benin City, Nigeria is advantageous
