We are seeking an experienced and passionate Further Maths & Mathematics Teacher to join our esteemed educational institution in Benin City, Nigeria. The successful candidate will play a crucial role in inspiring and guiding students through the complexities of advanced mathematics, fostering a love for the subject and preparing them for academic excellence.
- Develop and deliver engaging lessons in Further Mathematics and Mathematics, tailored to students' abilities and learning styles
- Create comprehensive schemes of work and lesson plans aligned with the Nigerian curriculum and international standards
- Assess and monitor student progress, providing regular feedback and implementing strategies for improvement
- Prepare students for national examinations, ensuring they achieve their full potential
- Collaborate with colleagues to enhance the mathematics programme and share best practices
- Utilise educational technology and software to enhance the learning experience
- Provide additional support and guidance to students through tutorials and extra-curricular activities
- Maintain accurate records of student performance and communicate effectively with parents and guardians
- Contribute to the school's overall academic and pastoral initiatives
Qualifications
- Bachelor's degree in Mathematics or a closely related field (required)
- Postgraduate Certificate in Education (PGCE) or equivalent teaching qualification
- Proven experience teaching Further Mathematics and Mathematics at the secondary level
- In-depth knowledge of advanced mathematical concepts and theories
- Strong understanding of educational psychology and effective pedagogical approaches
- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills
- Proficiency in using educational technology and mathematics software
- Ability to inspire and motivate students to achieve their best in mathematics
- Familiarity with the Nigerian educational system and curriculum
- Strong organisational and time management skills
- Patience, empathy, and the ability to work with students of diverse backgrounds and abilities
