Job Description
Reporting to: WASH Engineer
Proposed start date: December 2024
Key Responsibilities:
- To visit sites and ensure quality assurance of construction and electrification of facilities is being delivered and adherence to design specifications;
- Fully participate in and/or facilitate technical assessments in IDP camps and communities by using KOBO tools, MSNA tools, RNA tools and Mwater;
- Ensure the WASH activities are up to Action Against Hunger WASH program standards;
- Undertake regular field visits to monitor construction activities;
- Conduct sanitary survey for each WASH activities;
- Conduct regular water quality analysis and monitoring;
- Continuous assessment emergency and sustainable needs;
- Ensure that work meets with SPHERE minimum standards;
- Assist and participate in community mobilization and capacity building;
- Assist in preparing training tools on relevant technical topics and conduct trainings for stakeholders;
- Assist the WASH Engineer in the development of technical guidelines and tools;
- Facilitate and conduct CATI response to reduce risk of cholera spread in affected communities;
- Work closely with LGA Rapid Response Teams (RRT) team in identification and training of local capacity in the prevention of cholera;
- Ensure regular chlorination of water points and monitoring of Financial Reporting Council (FRC);
- Work closely with the WASH hygiene promotion team and relevant stakeholders throughout the planning, design and implementation stages of the WASH technical activities. Hygiene promotion is a vital element in such infrastructure activities, especially in CLTS, Participatory Hygiene and Sanitation Transformation (PHAST) and Children's Hygiene and Sanitation Training (CHAST);
- Build relationship with local government to exchange information on WASH technical implementation status;
- Participate in project staff meetings;
- Compile feasibility and other technical report for information and guidance in Action against Hunger;
- Submit technical report and consumption report to the WASH Engineer;
- Assist in the preparation of weekly reports;
- Provide full support to WASH Engineer in maintaining regular contact with relevant stakeholders.
Position Requirements:
- B.sc and National Diploma in Civil Engineering and Building with minimum of 1 year field experience;
- Previous experience in supervising drilling and construction activities;
- Professional, good organizational capacity and motivated;
- Capacity to be adaptable and flexible;
- Microsoft Office and designing software Skills (AutoCAD, Excel, Power Point, Word);
- Willing and able to be based and travel regularly within remote areas, where services are limited;
- Fluency in Hausa and English.
