Job Summary




  • The Laboratory Manager oversees the daily operations, quality management, and administrative functions of the laboratory.

  • This position ensures accurate, timely, and efficient diagnostic testing and is responsible for maintaining regulatory compliance, and fostering a collaborative environment among the laboratory team.

  • The manager also interphaseswith healthcare providers to deliver critical diagnostic results, enhancing patient care.



Job Responsibilities




  • Plan and supervise laboratory activities; specimen collection, running of sample and reporting

  • Manage the daily workflow to optimize turnaround times and resource allocation

  • Responsible for the proper functioning of laboratory equipment, coordinating maintenance and repairs as needed

  • Ensure compliance with regulatory standards and maintain accreditation requirement

  • Conduct regular audits, risk assessments, and quality improvement initiatitives

  • Conduct performance evaluations and implement staff development plans.

  • Ensure accurate data entry and management in the Laboratory Information Management System (LIMS)

  • Prepare and present regular reports on laboratory operations, quality metrics, and performance to senior management

  • Prepare and manage bugdets, analyze financial performance, and implement cost control measures

  • Serve as the primary liason between laboratory and healthcare providers.



Job Specification




  • Certification as a Medical Laboratory Scientist

  • 8 years of experience in clinical laboratory setting, with at least 2 years in a managerial role.
