Our client is a leading trading company based in Nigeria that specializes in exporting high-quality cocoa beans and cashews. Due to expansion, they need a COMPLIANCE AND LEGAL OFFICER.



JOB RESPONSIBILITIES:




  • Monitor and ensure adherence to all relevant laws, regulations, and industry standards.

  • Stay updated on regulatory changes and their implications for the business.

  • Conduct regular compliance audits and assessments to identify potential risks.

  • Develop and implement compliance policies, procedures, and controls.

  • Identify, assess, and mitigate compliance risks.

  • Develop and implement risk management strategies and controls.

  • Monitor and report on key compliance metrics.

  • Investigate compliance breaches and allegations of misconduct.

  • Report findings to Head of Legal as required.

  • Develop and facilitate compliance training programs for employees at all levels.

  • Promote a strong compliance culture within the organization.

  • Collaborate with various departments to ensure compliance integration into business processes.

  • Liaise with external regulatory bodies and legal counsel.

  • Prepare regular compliance reports to the Head of Legal.

  • Provide timely and accurate information on compliance issues.



JOB REQUIREMENTS:




  • Minimum of a first-degree in Law

  • 2 – 4 years of previous experience in a similar role.

  • Deep knowledge of relevant regulations, standards and guidelines within the specific industry.

  • Knowledge of the transportation and haulage industries would be an added advantage.

  • Expert knowledge and use of Microsoft Office Suite (MS Word, Excel, PowerPoint, etc.)
