Job Summary




  • The Assistant General Manager (AGM) will oversee day-to-day production operations, focusing on quality, efficiency, and regulatory compliance. This role requires a candidate with deep experience in food processing, technical skills in production optimization, and proven leadership in managing and developing teams.



Key Responsibilities




  • Production Oversight: Manage end-to-end production processes, ensuring compliance with food safety and quality standards while meeting production goals.

  • Strategic Planning: Assist in formulating, implementing, and monitoring company strategies, translating high-level goals into actionable plans across functions.

  • Process Improvement: Identify and implement process improvements to increase productivity, streamline operations, and reduce costs without compromising quality.

  • Market and Product Analysis: Collaborate with sales and marketing teams to analyze market trends and consumer demands, assisting in identifying new opportunities for growth and product development.

  • Regulatory Compliance and Quality Assurance: Implement and monitor HACCP, GMP, and ISO standards, working closely with the Quality Control team to ensure all operations comply with industry regulations to maintain product quality and integrity.

  • Process Optimization: Use Lean Manufacturing, Six Sigma, or similar methodologies to identify inefficiencies, reduce waste, and enhance productivity across all production lines.

  • Vendor and Supply Chain Management: Work with procurement and logistics teams to ensure timely sourcing of raw materials, effective inventory management, and cost control.

  • Performance Reporting: Prepare and present operational reports to the Managing Director, providing insights and recommending adjustments to meet organizational objectives.

  • People Management: Lead and motivate a diverse team, handling conflict resolution, fostering a positive work environment, and developing training programs to enhance team capabilities.

  • Relationship Management: Maintaining relationships with key internal and external stakeholders, including suppliers and customers.

  • Cross-Departmental Coordination: Serve as a key liaison between production and senior management, ensuring clear communication and alignment on strategic goals.



Key Qualifications




  • Bachelor’s Degree in Food Science, Food Technology, Engineering, Business Administration, or a related field. An MBA or similar qualification is an added advantage.

  • Minimum of 6 - 8 years in a production management, with at least 2 years in a leadership role, preferably in the food and beverages industry.

  • Strong proven knowledge of food safety and quality regulations, such as HACCP, ISO 22000 and GMP.

  • Strong technical skills in process optimization and familiarity with Lean, Six Sigma, or other efficiency methodologies.

  • Extensive knowledge of the local and international food safety standards (e.g. FDA, NAFDAC in Nigeria) to ensure that all processes meet legal and regulatory requirements.

  • Experience working with vendors, raw material suppliers, and logistics teams to ensure timely and cost-effective production.

  • Proven skills in overseeing projects, managing timelines, and coordinating various departments to ensure smooth operations.

  • Excellent communication and conflict resolution skills, with the ability to engage, motivate, and develop staff.

  • Strong analytical and problem-solving skills, with the ability to make data-driven decisions.

  • Proficient in using production management software and tools.

  • Ability to work in a fast-paced environment and handle multiple priorities simultaneously.

  • Excellent organizational and time management skills.
