- A Hotel Kitchen Assistant supports the smooth operation of the kitchen by performing various tasks, including food preparation, cleaning, and assisting chefs and kitchen staff.
- This role ensures high standards of cleanliness, organization, and efficiency in the kitchen environment.
Key Responsibilities
Food Preparation:
- Assist in basic food preparation such as peeling, chopping, slicing, and assembling ingredients.
- Prepare simple dishes under the supervision of the chef, such as salads, sandwiches, or desserts.
Cleaning and Hygiene:
- Maintain cleanliness and organization of kitchen surfaces, equipment, and utensils.
- Wash dishes, pots, pans, and other kitchen tools.
- Adhere to hygiene and sanitation standards to ensure food safety.
Stock and Inventory Management:
- Monitor inventory levels of ingredients and kitchen supplies.
- Assist in receiving, unpacking, and storing food deliveries while ensuring proper rotation of stock.
Support to Chefs and Kitchen Staff:
- Assist in plating and presentation of dishes during service.
- Provide timely support during busy service hours, ensuring smooth kitchen operations.
Compliance with Safety Standards:
- Follow safety protocols for handling kitchen tools, equipment, and hot surfaces.
- Report any maintenance issues or hazards to the supervisor promptly.
Other Duties:
- Assist in organizing events or catering preparation if required.
- Perform additional tasks assigned by the chef or kitchen supervisor.
Qualifications and Skills
- Previous experience in a kitchen environment is an advantage but not mandatory.
- Basic knowledge of food preparation and kitchen hygiene.
- Physical stamina to work in a fast-paced environment.
- Strong organizational and time-management skills.
- Ability to work as part of a team and follow instructions.
- Flexibility to work shifts, weekends, and holidays as required.
- Candidates should possess an OND with 1 - 3 years experience.
