The Opportunity




  • As a corporate accountant you will be part of the Controllership group responsible for global corporate accounting, including account reconciliation, general ledger management, financial reporting, and internal control processes. You will report to the Senior Accounting Manager and work across Abt to ensure company and governmental accounting procedures are followed.



Core Responsibilities




  • Prepares account reconciliations and analyses

  • Identifies researches and resolves reconciling items as needed

  • Applies technology to accounting, financial reporting and internal control processes to ensure the most efficient and effective processes.

  • Assists in the preparation of timely and accurate financial statements and analyses for distribution to senior management and the board of directors

  • Helps to ensure financial statements comply with generally accepted accounting principles

  • Helps to ensure financial statements are professionally presented according to best practices in the industry

  • Identifies, designs and implements process improvements in accordance with best practices within the industry

  • Assists with the preparation of compliance reports for issuance to financial institutions

  • Participates in the evaluation of internal controls for internal compliance

  • Makes recommendations for new controls or improvements to existing controls, as appropriate

  • Works with the Senior Accounting Manager to perform control related audits, as necessary

  • Prepares audit schedules and responds to audit inquiries. Monitors the timely completion of assigned month and year end closing tasks.

  • Performs other work-related duties as assigned

  • Perform complex accounting activities related to the maintenance of a complete and accurate GL and the resultant managerial reports and financial statements



What We Value




  • Proficient in the use of Microsoft Office products such as Excel, Word, and PowerPoint.

  • Knowledge of and experience with enterprise level general ledger systems (Oracle preferred).

  • Excellent communications skills.

  • Strong work ethic and a team player.

  • Must be a critical thinker and problem solver and able to question what is and recommend what should be.

  • Bachelor’s Degree + Five years of relevant experience, or Master’s Degree + Three years of relevant experience

  • Certified Public Accountant or Chartered Accountant strongly preferred.
