Job Summary




  • We are seeking to recruit for the position of the Occupational Medicine Consultant. As The Occupational Medicine Consultant, you will oversee the health and safety of employees, focusing on workplace-related illnesses and injuries.

  • The role includes conducting medical evaluations, implementing preventive healthcare programs, and advising organizations on compliance with occupational health regulations.

  • The consultant ensures employees' overall well-being, promoting productivity and reducing workplace hazards



Key Responsibilities




  • Conduct pre-employment, periodic, and fitness-for-duty medical evaluations

  • Identify and assess workplace health risks and implement strategies to mitigate them

  • Develop and implement occupational health policies and procedures aligned with industry standards and regulations

  • Design and monitor health surveillance initiatives, such as vaccination programs and screenings.

  • Ensure the organization complies with local, national, and international occupational health and safety regulations

  • Train employees and management on occupational health issues, workplace safety, and wellness.



Qualifications & Professional Experience




  • Medical Degree (MBBS, MD) with Specialization in Family Medicine

  • MDCN Certified

  • Certification in Occupational Medicine or related field from a recognized institution.

  • Additional certifications in industrial health or workplace safety (e.g., NEBOSH, IOSH) are advantageous.

  • A minimum of 8 years of relevant experience in in Occupational or industrial medicine

  • Experience working in a private institution is an added advantage.



Core Skills & Functional Competencies:




  • Expertise in diagnosing and managing work-related illnesses and injuries

  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills to interact with employees and management effectively

  • Proficiency in risk assessment and mitigation strategies

  • Knowledge of Nigerian Labor Law concerning occupational health and safety

  • Ability to design and implement workplace wellness and health programs

  • Familiarity with Electronic medical records (EMR) and occupational health software

  • Awareness of workplace ergonomics and environmental health concerns

  • Familiarity with health and safety management systems and frameworks.

  • Adaptability to diverse patient needs and healthcare environment.
