Job Summary



  • The Farm Manager optimizes better yield and profitability by deciding on livestock management, supervision of farm staff, planning farm activities, monitoring animals, and handling various administrative functions such as preparation of budgets, purchase of supplies, maintenance of relationships with vendors and clients, and ensuring maximum profitability.

  • Outstanding candidates will be those that are keen problem solvers with good business sense,who are focused on efficiency and take a hands-on approach to management. Livestock include cattle, goats - ruminants.


Key Responsibilities



  • Analyzing existing operations, livestock, staff, and financial documents and recommending improvements

  • Budgeting the farm management and accomplishing the farm activities within the planned budget

  • Ensuring all staff adheres to health and safety regulations.

  • Assisting with the recruitment and training of new staff members

  • Maintain production and other farm records including the estimated operating costs, ordering of farm inputs, and monitoring of animal health and feeding requirements

  • Produce livestock to achieve volume, quality and cost objectives

  • Clean and maintain buildings, sheds, equipment and facilities to ensure health standards and high quality of produce

  • Ensure good animal health is maintained through provision of adequate quality and quantity of pasture and other feed

  • Building professional networks and keeping abreast of developments in agricultural sciences


Qualifications

Education Level:



  • Bachelor's Degree in Animal Science or equivalent


Experience:



  • 3 - 5 years relevant work experience.

  • Extensive experience in a farming-related field.

  • Management experience would be a plus
