The Role Statement:
The job incumbent is responsible for support in the pastry section of the kitchen while working closely with the Chef De Partie Bakery, Sous Chef and Executive Chef. Responsible to create high quality pastry dishes with the standard recipes and presentations in order to maintain quality standards and consistency of product according to the company and specifications set by the airlines.
Main Accountabilities:
- Manages all day-to-day operations of the pastry and bakery section of the kitchen.
- Prepare a wide variety of goods such as desserts, cakes, cookies, pies, bread etc. following traditional and modern recipes.
- Able to produce all baked goods including but not limited to artisan breads and rolls, muffins, laminated Danish, laminated croissants and doughnuts etc.
- Able to develop, designs, or creates new ideas and items for Pastry Kitchen.
- Decorate pastries and desserts using different types of icings, toppings etc. and ensure the food presentation will be beautiful and exciting.
- Supervise and coordinate all pastry and dessert preparation and presentation.
- And any other assigned duties
Knowledge, Skills and Experience:
- Minimum of a catering/culinary certificate
- Minimum of 3-5 years business experience as a senior pastry chef in a well-planned pastry kitchen in a structured organization.
- Knowledge and experience of air flight catering is desirable
- Good understanding of customer service is essential
- Measurement/numeric skills is desirable
- Have good communication skills
- Mastery of intercultural sensitivity
- Must be fluent in English
