Key Duties & Responsibilities




  • S/he will be the direct link with USAID and other relevant stakeholders such as government and partners and accountable for achieving results

  • S/he will be responsible for ensuring that the project meets its objectives and result targets, including those related to institutional strengthening, capacity building, and market-based private sector approaches to service delivery

  • S/he will coordinate the effectiveness of personnel and make strategic decisions along with an ability to troubleshoot

  • S/he will see to the effective coordination of the project and drive it to achieve its overall goal

  • S/he will provide effective leadership and technical backstopping for all components of the project and communicate effectively with all shades of stakeholders

  • S/he will be responsible for overall technical reporting and supervision of all consultancies and contracts on the project for quality assurance

  • S/he will ensure that the organization’s core values are carried out throughout the lifecycle of the project and do not compromise the quality delivery of services

  • S/he will communicate and relate well with all government establishments and persons identified in the project to successfully deliver on the project

  • S/he will take overall responsibility for resource management both human and capital for the successful implementation of the project and secure value for money.

  • To carry any other duties assigned to.



Qualifications




  • Candidates must have an Advanced or Postgraduate Degree or Diploma, i.e., a PhD or Master or postgraduate diploma in Water and Sanitation, Water Resource Management, Civil, Mechanical, or Environmental Engineering, or relevant fields.

  • Candidates should be an active member of a WASH/WRM-related professional body

  • S/he must be fluent in English.

  • Knowledge of Hausa and Kanuri Languages will be an added advantage



Working Experience:




  • A minimum of ten (10) years of working experience in managerial and leadership positions in international donor-funded water, sanitation, and hygiene (WASH) projects, preferably experience on USG-funded WASH Project

  • Three (3) years’ experience in WASH project is required

  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office applications such as MS Word, Excel, and PowerPoint, and ability to manage tight deadlines and deliver high volumes of work.

  • Experience working in the North East, especially in Borno State, has an added advantage

  • S/he will have exceptional  communication and collaboration skills and a proven track record of interacting with other projects, high-level host country governments, and international agencies

  • The candidate must have a proven track record of working effectively with diverse groups of civil society organizations, media, and government counterparts.
