Job Summary




  • We are seeking an experienced and dynamic educator to join our institution as the Head of Department (Science/Technology/Mathematics). The ideal candidate will lead the department in fostering academic excellence, driving innovation in teaching methods, and inspiring students and teachers alike.



Key Responsibilities

Leadership and Administration:




  • Oversee the Science, Technology, and Mathematics department's academic and administrative functions.

  • Develop and implement strategic plans for the department, aligning with the school’s vision.

  • Mentor and support teachers within the department to enhance their teaching methodologies and professional growth.

  • Ensure compliance with the school’s policies and academic standards.



Curriculum Development:




  • Design, review, and enhance the curriculum to ensure it meets the needs of students and aligns with modern teaching practices.

  • Incorporate innovative and practical approaches to teaching STEM subjects.



Teaching and Learning:




  • Teach a minimum number of classes, demonstrating excellence in subject knowledge and delivery.

  • Foster an engaging and inclusive learning environment that encourages student participation and growth.



Performance Monitoring:




  • Track and evaluate student performance, implementing strategies for improvement where necessary.

  • Conduct regular assessments of teaching practices within the department and provide constructive feedback.



Resource Management:




  • Oversee the procurement and maintenance of laboratory equipment and teaching materials.

  • Ensure proper utilization of departmental resources.



Community Engagement:




  • Represent the department in school-wide meetings and events.

  • Build relationships with parents, guardians, and stakeholders to support student learning outcomes.



Requirements




  • A minimum of a Bachelor’s degree in Science, Technology, Engineering, Mathematics (STEM), or Education. A Master’s degree will be an added advantage.

  • 6-10 years teaching experience, preferably in a leadership role.

  • Proven expertise in teaching at least one STEM subject.

  • Strong leadership, organizational, and interpersonal skills.

  • Excellent communication and mentoring abilities.

  • Proficiency in the use of modern educational technology and digital tools.

  • Must be residing in Ibadan or within a South-West state.

  • Must be able to teach science related subjects.
