Duties and Responsibilities
- Develop a creative program suitable for preschool pupils, utilizing the Early Years Foundation Stage Curriculum, Jolly Phonics
- Employ a variety of teaching techniques such as storytelling, educational play, drawing, handcrafts, singing, use of technology, etc.
- Provide a safe and secure environment in which the pupils can learn.
- Maintain open communication with your pupils’ parents through the Communication Book, Emails and official Phone Calls and to report serious issues to the Upper Elementary Supervisor for onward prompt resolution.
- Maintain a clean and tidy classroom consistent with health and safety standards
- Observe and monitor children’s play activities.
- Keep records on individual children including daily observations and information about activities, meals served and medication administered (only through the nurse) .
- Organize and participate in recreational activities such as games.
- Organize and store toys and materials to ensure orderliness in activity areas.
- Dress children and change diapers.
- Identify signs of emotional or developmental problems in children and escalate to supervisors and then parents, if instructed.
- Help children learn and keep good hygiene.
- Introduce children to basic concepts such as manners by teaching them to share, take turns e.t.c
- Work as a team with colleagues to ensure that all pupils are tidy and pupil’s things are organized when leaving the school.
Education and Work Experience
- Minimum of National Certificate in Education (NCE)
- Training in Early Years Foundation Stage (EYFS) Curriculum and Jolly Phonics
- 4 years experience in teaching in a Montessori or EYFS environment
