- Responsible for supervising four to seven members of the linguistics department.
- This includes planning, monitoring, and evaluation of individual work as well as collaborating with mentors and consultants to ensure training, consultant development as applicable, and quality control.
- Commitment to growing in linguistic knowledge and skills.
- Ensures proper use of equipment and finances.
Job Responsibilities:
- Supervises four to seven staff in the linguistics domain taking both external requirements and internal priorities into consideration; anticipates, plans, assigns tasks, ensures appropriate follow-up and accountability occur
- Contributes to a team culture where team members help each other grow in competency and character
- Proactively and intentionally connects and collaborates with other leaders within SIL Nigeria.
- Stays abreast of developments in the field of linguistics
- Ensures linguistics findings are appropriately documented and archived
- Effectively communicates management expectations to staff and communicates staff perspectives, concerns, and ideas to management

Education & Experience:
- At least a first four-year degree from a college or university in linguistics, a science, or management
- Experience working on cross-cultural teams preferred
- Experience in team management, preferably two years or more
- The ideal candidate will have experience in field linguistics in Nigerian languages and, preferably, an advanced degree in applied linguistics or language development.
