Job Description




  • A Sales Officer in the agro industry is responsible for driving sales, building strong relationships with clients, and promoting agricultural products and services.

  • This role involves identifying customer needs, providing solutions, and ensuring the achievement of sales targets within assigned territories.



Responsibilities

Sales and Business Development:




  • Identify and pursue new sales opportunities within the agro sector, including farmers, distributors, cooperatives, and agribusinesses.

  • Promote and sell agricultural products such as fertilizers, seeds, agrochemicals, machinery, or processed goods.

  • Develop and execute sales plans to achieve or exceed targets.



Customer Relationship Management:




  • Build and maintain strong relationships with existing and potential clients.

  • Address customer inquiries, concerns, and complaints promptly and professionally.

  • Provide technical advice on the use and benefits of agricultural products.



Market Research and Analysis:




  • Gather market intelligence on competitor activities, pricing strategies, and customer preferences.

  • Identify trends and opportunities within the agricultural sector to inform sales strategies.

  • Provide regular reports on sales activities, market conditions, and customer feedback.



Product Knowledge and Training:




  • Stay updated on the features, benefits, and applications of the company’s products.

  • Organize and conduct training sessions or demonstrations for customers and stakeholders.

  • Collaborate with technical teams to address customer-specific needs.



Logistics and Order Management:




  • Coordinate with the supply chain team to ensure timely delivery of products to customers.

  • Manage orders, invoicing, and payment collection in line with company policies.

  • Monitor stock levels and provide forecasts to ensure product availability.



Compliance and Ethics:




  • Adhere to company policies, industry standards, and local regulations.

  • Ensure ethical practices in all sales activities.



Qualifications




  • Bachelor’s degree in Agriculture, Agronomy, Marketing, Business Administration, or a related field.

  • Proven experience in sales, preferably in the agro industry or related fields.

  • Strong understanding of agricultural practices, products, and market dynamics.

  • Excellent communication, negotiation, and interpersonal skills.

  • Proficiency in using sales software and Microsoft Office tools.

  • Ability to speak local languages is an advantage.

  • Valid driver’s license and willingness to travel extensively.



Work Environment:




  • Field-based role with regular travel to farms, agro-dealer shops, and rural areas.

  • Interaction with a wide range of stakeholders, including farmers, traders, and agribusiness owners.
