- A Sales Officer in the agro industry is responsible for driving sales, building strong relationships with clients, and promoting agricultural products and services.
- This role involves identifying customer needs, providing solutions, and ensuring the achievement of sales targets within assigned territories.
Responsibilities
Sales and Business Development:
- Identify and pursue new sales opportunities within the agro sector, including farmers, distributors, cooperatives, and agribusinesses.
- Promote and sell agricultural products such as fertilizers, seeds, agrochemicals, machinery, or processed goods.
- Develop and execute sales plans to achieve or exceed targets.
Customer Relationship Management:
- Build and maintain strong relationships with existing and potential clients.
- Address customer inquiries, concerns, and complaints promptly and professionally.
- Provide technical advice on the use and benefits of agricultural products.
Market Research and Analysis:
- Gather market intelligence on competitor activities, pricing strategies, and customer preferences.
- Identify trends and opportunities within the agricultural sector to inform sales strategies.
- Provide regular reports on sales activities, market conditions, and customer feedback.
Product Knowledge and Training:
- Stay updated on the features, benefits, and applications of the company’s products.
- Organize and conduct training sessions or demonstrations for customers and stakeholders.
- Collaborate with technical teams to address customer-specific needs.
Logistics and Order Management:
- Coordinate with the supply chain team to ensure timely delivery of products to customers.
- Manage orders, invoicing, and payment collection in line with company policies.
- Monitor stock levels and provide forecasts to ensure product availability.
Compliance and Ethics:
- Adhere to company policies, industry standards, and local regulations.
- Ensure ethical practices in all sales activities.
Qualifications
- Bachelor’s degree in Agriculture, Agronomy, Marketing, Business Administration, or a related field.
- Proven experience in sales, preferably in the agro industry or related fields.
- Strong understanding of agricultural practices, products, and market dynamics.
- Excellent communication, negotiation, and interpersonal skills.
- Proficiency in using sales software and Microsoft Office tools.
- Ability to speak local languages is an advantage.
- Valid driver’s license and willingness to travel extensively.
Work Environment:
- Field-based role with regular travel to farms, agro-dealer shops, and rural areas.
- Interaction with a wide range of stakeholders, including farmers, traders, and agribusiness owners.
