Period of Performance: 12 months consultancy (possible extension)



Start date: January 15, 2025



JSI is implementing a Total Market Approach (TMA) to HIV prevention programming activity in Nigeria under a donor-funded sub-award mechanism. This activity builds on previous JSI work and has been expanded to include HIV pre-exposure prophylaxis and HIV self-testing kits. Under this project, JSI will increase vulnerable and key population demand for, and access to condoms, PrEP, and HIV self-testing kits using a total market approach. This will require project engagement across the public, social marketing, and commercial sectors to ensure sustainable markets for the commodities. 



The Program Associate will provide day-to-day support to project implementation, and routine monitoring of the project workplan and data management. S/he works under the supervision of the Technical Advisor.   



Key Responsibilities




  • Monitor and report the progress of the objectives and goals of the program. 

  • Develop promotional materials/venues, manage relational databases, and establish/forecast budget requirements. 

  • Develop work plans to accomplish objectives and monitor progress toward their achievement. 

  • Monitor expenditures and may prepare financial reports; may assist in identifying funding resources and developing fund-raising strategies and initiatives.

  • Prepare operational and statistical reports to assist in effective decision-making

  • Work with team members to conduct capacity-building activities 

  • Work with team members in the development and publication of manuscripts, abstracts, technical briefs, and reports to share best practices and improve learning. 

  • Work with team members to showcase project gains through success stories, press releases, and infographics.

  • Monitor and optimize social media analytics to improve performance.

  • Perform any other duties as assigned by the supervisor/project team members.

  • Collaborate with stakeholders to develop new program frameworks aligned with the organization's sustainability plans.

  • Support new business development for HIV prevention commodities. 



 Qualifications/Education: 



Bachelor's degree in science or health field or equivalent work experience in public health or program implementation.



 Required Experience/skills




  • Minimum of 2 years of related work experience. 

  • Previous experience in an NGO environment is a plus. 

  • Similar experience in US-funded projects is desirable.

  • Experience in donor-funded projects is required.

  • Accuracy, numerical and analytical skills.

  • Dynamic, flexible, and have a sense of confidentiality, team spirit, and proactive.

  • Ability to learn quickly and share learning with colleagues and partners.

  • Excellent communication, presentation, and negotiation skills.

  • Consistent ability to meet multiple deadlines and remain focused.

  • Able to work under pressure. 

  • Ability to work independently and as a team player who works well in a multicultural environment.

  • Excellent written and spoken English language.

  • Excellent knowledge & skill in MS Office, such as Windows, Word, Excel, Access, and Outlook. 

  • A high degree of self-motivation, resourcefulness, reliability, and honesty.
