Job Summary:
- To develop and implement strategic procurement processes that optimize cost-efficiency, timely delivery of high-quality good/services, and mitigate supply chain risks.
- Leverage data-driven insights and market analysis to drive informed purchasing decisions within regulatory standards.
- Maintain Vendor relationships and procurement practices to support operational needs and sustainability objectives.
Key Duties/Responsibilities
- Lead the development and execution of the organization’s procurement strategy, ensuring alignment with organizational goals and healthcare standards.
- Oversee the selection, negotiation, and management of suppliers and service providers, ensuring cost-effective and high-quality products and services are consistently delivered.
- Manage procurement spend, proactively driving cost-saving initiatives while ensuring quality and compliance remain intact with financial constraints.
- Develop and implement strategies to streamline the supply chain, ensuring timely delivery of medical supplies, equipment, and services to all units.
- Lead complex contract negotiations with suppliers, ensuring favorable terms and compliance with legal, regulatory, and ethical standards.
- Work closely with the inventory management team, ensuring procurement process support adequate stock levels, minimize wastage, stock outs and unnecessary costs.
- Identify and mitigate procurement-related risks (vendor, market, competitor), ensuring contingency plans are in place for critical supplies and services.
- Ensure procurement practices comply with relevant healthcare regulations (NAFDAC, HEFAMAA etc) , standards, and organization’s policies, including ethical sourcing and sustainability initiatives.
- Lead, mentor, and develop the procurement team, fostering a high-performance culture and promoting continuous improvement in procurement processes.
- Serve as thought leader for the organization; Continuously analyze market trends, new technologies, and innovative solutions to drive procurement improvements, cost savings and support the organization’s evolving needs.
- Accurate, effective executive level reporting as required. Other duties as may be assigned by your line manager within the scope of your responsibilities from time to time.
Job Specifications:
- Education Qualification: Minimum of BSc from reputable Academic Institution
- Professional Qualification: CIPSMN, CIPS or its equivalent
Experience (Dimension & No of years):
- Must have at least 7 – 10 years relevant work experience,
- 3-5 years managerial experience.
- Prior experience working in or with healthcare facilities (e.g., hospitals, clinics, or pharmaceutical organizations).
- Familiarity with the supply chain challenges and urgency typical in healthcare, such as dealing with emergency orders or highly regulated medical supplies.
