Key Responsibilities
Patient Assessment:
- Assess and evaluate patients' physical and emotional conditions before, during, and after dialysis treatments.
- Record medical histories and maintain accurate patient records.
Dialysis Treatment Administration:
- Operate and monitor dialysis machines during treatment.
- Administer prescribed medications and fluid therapy as directed by physicians.
- Ensure proper catheter or fistula care, preventing infections or complications.
Patient Education:
- Educate patients and their families about kidney disease, dialysis processes, and lifestyle adjustments.
- Provide guidance on dietary and fluid restrictions.
Emergency Response:
- Recognize and address potential complications during dialysis, such as hypotension or adverse reactions.
- Administer emergency care as needed.
Team Collaboration:
- Work closely with nephrologists, dietitians, and other healthcare providers to develop comprehensive care plans.
- Communicate patient progress and concerns to the medical team.
Equipment Management:
- Ensure the proper functioning of dialysis machines and troubleshoot issues.
- Maintain infection control standards during setup and cleaning.
Administrative Duties:
- Document treatment details and patient progress accurately.
- Maintain compliance with healthcare regulations and facility policies.
Qualifications
- Education: Registered Nurse (RN) license with a specialization in nephrology.
- Experience: Clinical experience in dialysis or renal care is highly desirable.
Skills:
- Strong interpersonal and communication skills.
- Ability to handle high-pressure situations.
- Proficient in using medical equipment and technology.
