Key Responsibilities
Handling Transactions:
- Operate cash registers, Point-of-Sale (POS) systems, or other payment systems.
- Process payments via cash, credit/debit cards, mobile payments, or checks.
- Provide accurate change to customers.
Customer Service:
- Greet customers warmly and provide assistance during the checkout process.
- Answer questions about products, services, or store policies.
- Resolve complaints or direct them to a manager.
Maintaining Accuracy:
- Ensure all transactions are recorded accurately.
- Scan or manually enter prices for products.
- Double-check the total amount and itemized receipt.
Balancing the Cash Drawer:
- Count and reconcile cash in the register at the beginning and end of each shift.
- Report discrepancies to supervisors immediately.
Sales and Upselling:
- Inform customers about ongoing promotions or discounts.
- Encourage add-on sales by recommending related products.
Store Maintenance:
- Keep the cashier area clean and organized.
- Restock items like shopping bags, receipt rolls, or candy at the counter.
Compliance with Policies:
- Follow company procedures for refunds, exchanges, or void transactions.
- Adhere to safety and security measures to prevent theft or fraud.
Requirement
- Candidates should possess an FSLC / HND or OND qualification with 2 - 5 years work experience.
Skills and Qualities:
- Attention to Detail: Accuracy in handling money and processing transactions.
- Customer Service Skills: Polite, friendly, and patient demeanor.
- Numerical Skills: Ability to quickly calculate totals, give change, and perform basic math.
- Communication Skills: Clear and effective verbal interaction with customers and team members.
