Job Summary:
A Fashion Designer Assitant at Marvee is responsible for creating unique, high-end fashion pieces that embody the essence of luxury and exclusivity. This role involves the tasking conceptualisation of extraordinary designs, and of overseeing the production of bespoke and RTW garments , ensuring each piece aligns with our brand's vision of sophistication, exclusivity and artistry.
Key Responsibilities:
- Design Conceptualization: Create innovative designs that set trends rather than follow them, focusing on intricate details, luxurious materials, and exquisite craftsmanship.
- Sketching and Visualization: Produce detailed sketches and mood boards to communicate design concepts to the team, from initial concepts to final product.
- Material Selection: Choose fabrics, embellishments, and accessories that enhance the design, ensuring they meet the high standards of haute couture.
- Pattern Approval: Collaborate with Pattern Makers to approve and refine patterns, ensuring they accurately reflect the design vision.
- Fitting and Alterations: Attend fittings to oversee adjustments, ensuring each garment fits perfectly and embodies the intended design aesthetic.
- Collection Development: Lead in the development of collections for fashion shows, celebrity clients, or exclusive events, managing timelines from concept to runway.
- Team Leadership: Direct and mentor junior designers, pattern makers, and seamstresses, fostering a creative yet disciplined work environment.
- Trend Forecasting: Stay ahead of fashion trends, yet push boundaries by integrating classic techniques with modern flair.
- Client Interaction: Engage with high-profile clients or private commissions, tailoring designs to their specific needs or tastes.
- Brand Representation: Represent the brand at fashion shows, media events, and within the industry to uphold and elevate the brand's image.
Skills:
- Exceptional drawing, sketching, and design software skills (Adobe Creative Suite, CAD for fashion).
- Deep understanding of garment construction, textiles, and fashion history.
- Strong aesthetic sense combined with technical design skills.
- Deep understanding of both the human form and fabric behaviour
- Excellent project management skills to handle the complexities of couture production.

Working Conditions:
- Primarily studio-based with flexibility for travel associated with design research, client meetings, or fashion shows.
- Expectation to work extended hours during peak production times or before major fashion events.
Salary Range:
NGN 200,000 - 600,000
