Job Summary



We are seeking a dedicated individual to join our sustainability team as a Sustainability Manager. In this role, you will provide expert knowledge and support to the Sustainability and Compliance department in developing, implementing, and monitoring sustainability initiatives across the Golden Oil Group of Companies. You will be responsible for defining and communicating key performance indicators (KPIs) related to Environmental, Social, and Governance (ESG) factors, while driving continuous improvement by tracking, documenting, and measuring ESG performance within the organization.



Job Details




  1. Develop and implement a comprehensive sustainability strategy aligned with company goals and value

  2. Identify and evaluate sustainability opportunities, risks, potential impacts across various business functions and processes

  3. Collaborates with cross-functional teams to integrate sustainability practices into daily operations, including supply chain, production, and waste management

  4. Conduct regular sustainability assessment, audits and data analysis to measure performance and identify areas for improvement

  5. Set sustainability targets and monitor progress towards achieving established goals

  6. Stay updated on emerging sustainability trends, technology, and best practices, and assess their relevance to the organization

  7. Engage with stakeholders, including employees, customers, suppliers, and local communities, to foster awareness, education, and engagement in sustainability initiatives 

  8. Develop and deliver training programs and workshops to enhance sustainability knowledge and skills among employees.

  9. Collaborate with external partners, industrial organizations, and regulatory bodies to stay informed about sustainability regulations, certifications, and reporting requirements.

  10. Prepare sustainability reports, including KPIs and metrics, to communicate progress and achievements to internal and external stakeholders

  11. Support the development and implementation of sustainable procurement practices and suppliers’ engagement strategies

  12. Advocate for sustainable practices and drive cultural change by promoting awareness, engagement, and participation in all levels of the organization

  13. Provide guidance and recommendations to senior management on sustainability strategies, initiatives, and investments.



Requirements




  1. Bachelor's or Master's degree in Sustainability, Environmental Sciences, or a related field.

  2. Minimum of 5 years of experience in a sustainability-focused role, preferably in a corporate setting.

  3. In-depth knowledge of sustainability principles, frameworks, standards, and best practices (e.g., IFC PS, Equator Principles, GRI Standards, SASB, ISO 14001, ISO 26000).

  4. Strong understanding of ESG issues and their interconnectedness.

  5. Proficient in MS Word, Excel, PowerPoint, and research tools.

  6. At least 3 years of experience in sustainability reporting using global reporting standards.

  7. Excellent communication, project management, and strategic thinking skills.

  8. Must be flexible to travel within Nigeria, including remote locations
