Description 




  • The Kitchen Assistant provides essential support to the kitchen staff in ensuring the smooth and efficient operation of the kitchen. This role involves a variety of tasks, including food preparation, cleaning, and maintaining a hygienic and organized kitchen environment.



Key Responsibilities

Food Preparation:




  • Assisting with basic food preparation tasks such as washing, peeling, chopping, and slicing vegetables and fruits.

  • Preparing and marinating meats and other ingredients as directed by the chef.

  • Assisting in the preparation of sauces, dressings, and garnishes.

  • Ensuring proper storage and rotation of food items.



Kitchen Maintenance:




  • Maintaining cleanliness and hygiene in the kitchen at all times, including washing dishes, pots, pans, and utensils.

  • Sweeping and mopping floors, cleaning work surfaces, and ensuring all equipment is clean and in good working order.

  • Assisting with the proper disposal of waste and recycling.



Other Duties:




  • Assisting with the receiving and storage of food deliveries.

  • Assisting with the set-up and breakdown of the kitchen for service.

  • Following all food safety and hygiene regulations.

  • Performing other duties as assigned by the Head Chef/Kitchen Supervisor.



Qualifications




  • High School Diploma or equivalent preferred.

  • Prior experience in a kitchen environment is preferred but not essential.

  • Basic food handling and hygiene knowledge.

  • Ability to work in a fast-paced environment.

  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.

  • Ability to work as part of a team.

  • Strong work ethic and a positive attitude.

  • Physical stamina to stand for extended periods and lift heavy objects.
