Job Description

We are seeking a dedicated and knowledgeable Civic Education Teacher to join our educational institution in Benin City, Nigeria. The successful candidate will play a crucial role in shaping young minds and fostering active citizenship among our students.

• Develop and deliver engaging lessons on civic education, government structures, and political systems


• Create a supportive and inclusive classroom environment that encourages critical thinking and open dialogue


• Plan and implement interactive activities to enhance students' understanding of civic responsibilities and democratic processes


• Assess and evaluate students' progress through various methods, including examinations, projects, and class participation


• Integrate current events and local issues into the curriculum to make civic education relevant and practical


• Collaborate with colleagues to develop cross-curricular projects that reinforce civic education concepts


• Organize and supervise educational trips to government institutions and community events


• Foster a sense of civic responsibility and community engagement among students

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in Education, Political Science, or a related field


• Valid teaching certification or licence


• Proven teaching experience in civic education or related subjects


• In-depth knowledge of civic education, government structures, and political systems


• Strong understanding of current events and their impact on civic life


• Excellent communication and interpersonal skills


• Proficiency in classroom management and student engagement techniques


• Experience in using various assessment and evaluation methods


• Competence in utilizing educational technology to enhance learning


• Ability to inspire and motivate students to become active and responsible citizens


• Familiarity with the Nigerian educational system and curriculum standards (desirable)
