Job Summary:
- The Media Arts Instructor will be responsible for delivering high-quality instruction in photography, videography, and post-production. This role includes teaching camera handling for diverse applications such as filmmaking, event coverage, and documentary production. The ideal candidate will also be involved in non-teaching tasks such as video production and photography for organizational projects, contributing to the School of Media Arts' growth and success.
Key Responsibilities:
Instructional Duties:
- Teach camera handling techniques for various deliverables, including filmmaking, events, and documentaries.
- Provide hands-on training in photography and videography.
- Deliver lessons on video and photo editing using industry-standard software.
- Incorporate knowledge of after-effects and visual effects (VFX) into teaching (preferred but not mandatory).
- Keep students informed of current trends and innovations in media arts.
Curriculum Development:
- Develop and update course materials, lesson plans, and practical projects to reflect industry standards.
- Collaborate with colleagues to ensure curriculum relevance and quality.
Non-Teaching Duties:
- Execute media art tasks such as video production and photography for organizational needs.
- Support institutional projects requiring media arts expertise.
Student Engagement:
- Mentor and support students to enhance their technical and creative skills.
- Assess student performance through projects, assignments, and exams, providing constructive feedback.
Professional Development and Networking:
- Stay updated on trends and technologies in media arts, including camera equipment, editing tools, and post-production techniques.
- Build relationships with industry professionals to create opportunities for students.
Team Collaboration:
- Actively participate in team meetings, staff development activities, and organizational initiatives.
- Contribute to the advancement of the School of Media Arts’ goals and mission.
Qualifications:
Education:
- Relevant tertiary degree in Media Arts, Film Production, Photography, or a related field.
- Certifications in photography, videography, editing, or related areas are required.
Experience:
- Proven experience in camera handling for diverse media applications.
- Practical expertise in video and photo editing software (e.g., Adobe Premiere, Photoshop, Lightroom).
- Knowledge of after-effects and VFX is an added advantage.
