Role Summary
Husk is seeking a Surveillance Engineer who will be responsible for monitoring, analyzing, and optimizing the performance of mini-grid systems. They will proactively identify, report, and mitigate system anomalies to ensure uninterrupted power supply, system reliability, and operational efficiency.
Key Responsibilities
Plant performance monitoring:
- Continuously monitor real-time performance data and meter performance from mini-grid systems through IoT platforms, or energy management systems
Troubleshooting and Diagnostics
- Perform root cause analysis of system anomalies, including meter reading, meter communication, and power generation irregularities.
- Coordinate with field teams to promptly identify losses and resolve system faults promptly
- Document and analyze findings based on observations, recommending improvements or corrective actions as necessary.
Data Analysis and Reporting:
- Analyze historical and real-time performance data to identify trends, risks, and improvement opportunities.
- Generate daily, weekly, and monthly performance reports, including capturing key KPIs such as uptime, and energy output and losses tracker.
System Optimization:
- Suggest and implement measures to enhance the efficiency and reliability of the mini-grid systems.
Stakeholder Coordination:
- Liaise with technical, operations, and field teams to ensure alignment on system performance objectives.
Required Skills and Attributes
- 3 years of experience in renewable energy systems, preferably in mini-grid or off-grid power systems.
- Hands-on experience on IoT monitoring platforms, energy management systems and data management.
- Bachelor’s degree/ Higher National Diploma in electrical engineering, Renewable Energy, or a related field.
- Strong knowledge of solar PV systems, energy storage, and hybrid mini-grid systems.
- Familiarity with data analytics tools and software for monitoring energy systems.
- Excellent excel and data analysis experience
- Strong understanding of mini grid operations, renewable energy technologies (solar, battery storage and metering)
