Job Description (Summary)
The Vendor Acquisition Officer will be responsible for sourcing and acquiring new vendors, managing vendor onboarding, and fostering long-term relationships with key market players. The role requires significant fieldwork, including vendor engagement, product assessments, and data-driven decision-making to optimize product performance on the platform.
Vendor Sourcing & Acquisition
- Engage directly with vendors in the allocated markets to secure their participation on the platform.
- Conduct market research to identify trends, emerging brands, and product categories that align with marketplace goals.
- Drive sales efforts by promoting the benefits of joining the platform and expanding its vendor base.
Vendor Onboarding
- Guide vendors through the registration process, ensuring they understand the platform’s policies and how to list their products.
- Collaborate with internal teams to ensure vendors are properly set up in the system and their product catalogs are accurate.
Direct Sales & Vendor Relationship Management
- Serve as the primary point of contact for vendors, addressing their queries and concerns.
- Build and maintain strong relationships with vendors, providing ongoing support and fostering loyalty.
- Monitor vendor performance, recommending improvements based on sales, product quality, and vendor satisfaction.
Field Work & Market Engagement
- Spend substantial time in the field, visiting vendors at their market locations and conducting live product assessments.
- Collect feedback from vendors to better understand their needs, market conditions, and competition.
Product Performance & Analytics
- Track vendor product performance, providing actionable insights to help vendors optimize their offerings.
- Recommend promotional strategies and adjustments to product listings based on sales analytics and market trends.
Performance Metrics
- Successfully onboard new vendors and increase product variety and volume.
- Ensure vendor retention and continued engagement with the platform.
- Achieve sales targets related to vendor acquisition and product performance.
- Provide timely resolution of vendor issues and maintain a high level of vendor satisfaction.

Required Qualifications & Experience
- 2-4 years of experience in field sales, vendor acquisition, or business development, ideally in an e-commerce or retail setting.
- Strong understanding of sales techniques, particularly in face-to-face, field-based sales.
- Proven track record of successfully onboarding and managing vendors.
- Proximity to the allocated markets will be an advantage.
- Strong negotiation and relationship management skills.
