Job Description (Summary)



The Vendor Acquisition Officer will be responsible for sourcing and acquiring new vendors, managing vendor onboarding, and fostering long-term relationships with key market players. The role requires significant fieldwork, including vendor engagement, product assessments, and data-driven decision-making to optimize product performance on the platform.



Vendor Sourcing & Acquisition




  • Engage directly with vendors in the allocated markets to secure their participation on the platform.

  • Conduct market research to identify trends, emerging brands, and product categories that align with marketplace goals.

  • Drive sales efforts by promoting the benefits of joining the platform and expanding its vendor base.



Vendor Onboarding




  • Guide vendors through the registration process, ensuring they understand the platform’s policies and how to list their products.

  • Collaborate with internal teams to ensure vendors are properly set up in the system and their product catalogs are accurate.



Direct Sales & Vendor Relationship Management




  • Serve as the primary point of contact for vendors, addressing their queries and concerns.

  • Build and maintain strong relationships with vendors, providing ongoing support and fostering loyalty.

  • Monitor vendor performance, recommending improvements based on sales, product quality, and vendor satisfaction.



Field Work & Market Engagement




  • Spend substantial time in the field, visiting vendors at their market locations and conducting live product assessments.

  • Collect feedback from vendors to better understand their needs, market conditions, and competition.



Product Performance & Analytics




  • Track vendor product performance, providing actionable insights to help vendors optimize their offerings.

  • Recommend promotional strategies and adjustments to product listings based on sales analytics and market trends.



Performance Metrics




  • Successfully onboard new vendors and increase product variety and volume.

  • Ensure vendor retention and continued engagement with the platform.

  • Achieve sales targets related to vendor acquisition and product performance.

  • Provide timely resolution of vendor issues and maintain a high level of vendor satisfaction.



Required Skills & Competencies:


























Technical Behavioral Strategic
Proven experience in direct sales, field-based sales, or vendor acquisition. Excellent communication, negotiation, and interpersonal skills. Ability to monitor and assess product performance and market trends.
Familiarity with e-commerce platforms and vendor onboarding processes. Ability to build and maintain strong relationships with vendors. Proactive in identifying growth opportunities and optimizing vendor engagement strategies.
Strong market research skills to identify trends and emerging brands. Self-starter with the ability to work independently and meet deadlines. Analytical mindset with the ability to use data to make informed decisions.


Required Qualifications & Experience




  • 2-4 years of experience in field sales, vendor acquisition, or business development, ideally in an e-commerce or retail setting.

  • Strong understanding of sales techniques, particularly in face-to-face, field-based sales.

  • Proven track record of successfully onboarding and managing vendors.

  • Proximity to the allocated markets will be an advantage.

  • Strong negotiation and relationship management skills.



Budget: NGN 100,000 Monthly Net
