The Pharmacist is responsible for ensuring the safe and effective use of medications within the facility. This includes dispensing prescribed medications, providing patient counseling on proper medication use, ensuring proper medication storage, and collaborating with healthcare teams to optimize patient care.
Job Description
Dispense prescription medications to patients accurately and promptly.
Verify the legality and accuracy of prescriptions.
Ensure that patients understand proper medication usage, side effects, and interactions.
Work with doctors, nurses, and other healthcare professionals to manage drug therapy.
Review patient medication histories and recommend appropriate changes when necessary.
Participate in interdisciplinary rounds to provide expertise on pharmaceutical care.
Educate patients about their prescriptions, including dosage, potential side effects, and precautions.
Counsel patients on lifestyle and dietary modifications to improve the effectiveness of medications.
Monitor patients for adverse drug reactions and medication errors.
Maintain accurate records for all medications dispensed.
Ensure compliance with laws, regulations, and hospital policies regarding the handling and dispensing of medications.
Maintain stock of medications and ensure proper storage conditions.
Order and manage pharmaceutical supplies, keeping within budgetary guidelines.
Conduct regular inventory checks and ensure that medications are within their expiration dates.
Ensure compliance with all applicable laws, regulations, and standards related to pharmacy practice.
Maintain up-to-date knowledge of regulatory changes, ensuring the hospital remains compliant with licensing requirements.
Requirements
Bachelor’s degree in Pharmacy (BPharm). Additional certificate is an added advantage
