Reports to: Advocacy and Marketing Manager



Key Responsibilities:




  1. Advocacy and Policy Support:


    • Provide necessary support to the Country Advocacy unit in the implementation of AHF’s advocacy and policy agenda to promote the organization's work at the state and national level.

    • Provide support through specific research as assigned on HIV-related policies.



  2. Stakeholder Engagement:

    • Provide logistic support to the Advocacy unit for various engagements with CBOs, CSOs, and other relevant institutions at the national and state-level of the AIDS control programs.

    • Provide monitoring support in the coordination of AHF’s advocacy and policy change initiatives with national development networks, policymakers, decision-makers, and the media.



  3. Partnership Development and Reporting:

    • Work on draft project reports and conduct background checks on CSOs, CBOs etc.



  4. Representation and External Relations:

    • Represent the Advocacy and marketing manager in meetings and other gatherings as assigned 

    • Perform other duties as assigned by the supervisor.





Marketing, PR, and Media Communications:




  1. Marketing Strategy Implementation:


    • Assist the Advocacy and Marketing unit in monitoring performances of marketing strategies deployed to promote public awareness, brand visibility, service referrals, and behavioral change campaigns.



  2. Media Relations and Publicity:

    • Support the Advocacy unit to plan events and research topical issues for publications.

    • Research content for the Advocacy unit to come up with media advisories, news stories, op-ed pieces, and other required materials.

    • Monitor the performance of jingles across the states

    • Provide logistic support to the Advocacy unit to organise press conferences and other media events towards strengthening AHF media relations.





Education and Experience:




  • Minimum of First degree in public health, law, human rights, mass communication, community development or any other relevant degree.

  • At least passable experience in the implementation of civil society programs in Nigeria, and an understanding of the linkages between health and human rights in Nigeria.

  • Flair for advocacy program development and implementation.

  • Passable understanding of HIV prevention messaging as well as use of social media in social campaigns.



COMMUNICATION SKILLS:




  • Ability to read and interpret documents such as policy documents, safety rules, operating and maintenance instructions, and procedure manuals.

  • Ability to write and review policy documents.

  • Ability to speak fluently and articulately. 



COMPUTER/ SOFTWARE SKILLS AND ABILITIES:




  • Proficiency with word processing, spreadsheets and presentation software.
