- A Grove Crane Operator is responsible for safely operating a Grove mobile crane to lift, move, and position heavy loads on a Manufacturing site,
- Performing pre-shift inspections, adhering to safety regulations, coordinating with other crew members, and ensuring the stability of the crane during lifting operations, all while maintaining a clean and safe work environment;
- Requiring a strong understanding of crane mechanics, load calculations, and site safety protocols.
Key Responsibilities
Crane Operation:
- Operate a Grove crane to lift, move, and precisely position heavy materials according to project plans.
- Maneuver the crane boom and hook to reach designated lifting points.
- Monitor load weight and crane stability during lifting operations.
- Utilize crane controls to adjust lifting speed and direction.
Safety Procedures:
- Conduct thorough pre-shift inspections of the Grove crane, including checks of safety devices, hydraulics, and operational systems.
- Adhere to all safety regulations and site safety protocols
- Communicate effectively with ground crew and other workers to ensure clear lifting signals and safe work zones
- Identify and report any potential hazards or malfunctions
Maintenance and Troubleshooting:
- Perform basic maintenance tasks on the Grove crane, including lubrication, cleaning, and minor repairs
- Monitor crane performance and report any necessary maintenance issues to supervisors
- Troubleshoot minor operational problems with the crane
Coordination:
- Read and interpret blueprints and lifting plans to understand load requirements and lifting locations
- Plan lift sequences and calculate load weights to ensure safe and efficient operations Proven experience operating mobile cranes, preferably Grove models, in a Manufacturing setting
Requirements
- Education and Experience: Interested candidate should possess an SSCE, OND, NCE, or Bachelor of Sceicne Degree with 2-4 years experience.
- Technical Knowledge: Understanding of crane mechanics, load calculations, and safety procedures
- Physical Abilities: Ability to work at heights, climb ladders, and operate crane controls with precision
- Communication Skills: Clear communication skills to coordinate with other crew members and follow instructions
