Our client, a reputable school in Surulere is looking to hire an Associate Class Teacher for their school.
RESPONSIBILITIES:
Classroom Support:
- Assist the classroom teacher in preparing and organizing instructional materials and resources.
- Help set up learning areas and maintain an organized and conducive classroom environment.
- Support the teacher in managing classroom behaviour and implementing positive behaviour management strategies.
Student Assistance:
- Provide individualized attention and support to students during classroom activities and exercises.
- Help students with assignments, projects, and tasks as directed by the teacher.
- Assist students with understanding instructions and concepts.
Small Group Activities:
- Facilitate small group learning activities as assigned by the teacher.
- Work with small groups of students to reinforce learning objectives and address specific needs.
Student Supervision:
- Supervise students during transitions, lunchtime, and other non-instructional activities.
- Ensure students' safety and well-being during school hours.
Classroom Management:
- Assist with maintaining order and discipline in the classroom.
- Support the teacher in fostering a positive and respectful classroom environment.
- Help manage classroom routines and procedures.
Special Needs Support:
- Provide additional support to students with special needs or learning challenges.
- Collaborate with special education staff to implement individualized education plans (IEPs) as required.
Classroom Technology:
- Assist with the integration and use of technology in the classroom, such as computers, interactive whiteboards, and educational software.
Parent Communication:
- Assist in maintaining open communication with parents or guardians regarding students' progress and behaviour.
- Support parent-teacher conferences and other parent engagement activities.
Teacher Support:
- Collaborate with the classroom teacher and other school staff to support the overall educational program.
- Assist with administrative tasks and record-keeping, as needed.
REQUIREMENTS:
- A Bachelor’s degree in Education or PGDE in Education.
- Previous experience working with children or in an educational setting is advantageous.
- Strong communication and interpersonal skills to interact effectively with students, teachers, and parents.
- Patience, empathy, and a genuine interest in supporting students' learning and well-being.
- Ability to follow instructions and work collaboratively with the classroom teacher and other staff.
- Flexibility and adaptability to meet the changing needs of the classroom and students.
- Willingness to undergo any required background checks or clearances, as mandated by the school or educational institution.
