A driver's job is to transport people or goods to a destination on time. The responsibilities of a driver can vary depending on the industry, but they generally include:
- Loading and unloading:Loading goods or passengers onto the vehicle and unloading them at the destination
- Maintaining the vehicle:Performing regular maintenance checks, refuelling, and keeping the vehicle clean
- Interacting with customers:Interacting with customers in a friendly and professional manner
- Keeping records:Keeping track of trip details, expenses, and fuel usage
- Handling emergencies:Responding to emergencies and handling customer grievances
- Researching traffic:Researching traffic, construction, and weather delays before starting a journey
- Driving safely:Driving safely to the destination, following traffic laws, and adhering to safety regulations
- Planning routes:Using GPS and knowledge of the area to plan the best route to the destination
- Drivers may also need to work nights and weekends.
Requirements
- Candidates should possess an SSCE, OND, NCE, or HND with 3-4 years experience.
- Valid driver's license
- Good driving skills
- Flexibility and openness to new technologies
- Good interpersonal skills, and Physical ability to lift and carry materials.
