Responsisbilities
- Diagnose Mechanical Issues: Identify mechanical, electrical, and hydraulic issues in heavy machinery using diagnostic tools and techniques.
- Perform Repairs: Conduct repairs on engines, transmissions, brake systems, and other mechanical components. This may involve welding, fabricating parts, or replacing faulty components.
- Routine Maintenance: Perform scheduled maintenancesuch as oil changes, filter replacements, tire rotations, and lubrication to ensure machinery runs efficiently.
- Inspections: Conduct regular inspections of equipment to detect and prevent potential issues before they cause breakdowns.
- Record Keeping: Maintain accurate records of all inspections, maintenance, and repairs performed, including parts used and time spent.
- Compliance: Ensure all repairs and maintenance activities comply with industry standards and safety regulations.
- Collaborate with Team: Work closely with operators and other mechanics to understand equipment issues and determine the best course of action for repairs.
- Emergency Repairs: Respond to equipment breakdowns in the field, providing timely and effective solutions to minimize downtime.
- Stay Updated: Keep up-to-date with the latest developments in heavy machinery and automotive technology.
Requirements
Education and Experience:
- High School Diploma or equivalent; vocational training or an apprenticeship in heavy equipment mechanics or a related field is preferred.
- Minimum of 4 years experience as a heavy-duty mechanic or in a similar role.
- Certification as a Heavy Duty Mechanic or Diesel Mechanic is a strong advantage.
Skills and Competencies:
- Technical Proficiency: Strong knowledge of diesel engines, hydraulics, electrical systems, and computerized diagnostic tools.
- Problem-solving: Ability to quickly diagnose issues and determine the most efficient and cost-effective repair methods.

- Physical Stamina: Ability to lift heavy parts and work in various environments, including outdoors and in workshops.
- Communication Skills: Ability to communicate with team members, supervisors, and equipment operators.
