  • A Panel beater in an automotive company is a skilled technician responsible for repairing damaged exterior body panels of vehicles, including dents, scratches, and collision damage, by using techniques like metal shaping, welding, filling, and sanding to restore the vehicle's original appearance and structural integrity, often working alongside a paint shop to complete the repair process.



Key Responsibilities




  • Assessing damage: Thoroughly inspect vehicles to identify the extent of damage to exterior panels, including dents, scratches, and structural issues.

  • Panel removal and replacement: Remove damaged panels from the vehicle and replace them with new ones if necessary, using proper dismantling and reassembly procedures.

  • Metal shaping: Use specialized tools like hammers, dollies, and body bucks to manually shape and straighten damaged metal panels to restore their original form.

  • Welding: Perform welding repairs on damaged panels using appropriate welding techniques to join metal sections together.

  • Filling and sanding: Apply body filler to smooth out imperfections and irregularities on repaired panels, followed by sanding to achieve a smooth surface for painting.

  • Primer application: Apply primer to repaired areas to prepare the surface for paint.

  • Quality control: Regularly inspect repaired areas to ensure quality standards are met and the vehicle is restored to its original condition.
