Job Summary




  • The Lead Light Vehicle Mechanic is responsible for the diagnosis, repair, and maintenance of a variety of light vehicles, including cars, buses, and light trucks. 

  • This role also involves leading and mentoring a small team of mechanics, ensuring high-quality workmanship and efficient workflow within the workshop. 

  • The ideal candidate will possess strong technical skills, excellent leadership abilities, and a commitment to providing exceptional customer service.



Key Responsibilities




  • Diagnose and repair mechanical and electrical faults in light vehicles, including engines, transmissions, brakes, suspension, steering, electrical systems, and HVAC systems.

  • Perform routine maintenance services, such as oil changes, filter replacements, tire rotations, and brake inspections, according to manufacturer specifications.

  • Supervise and mentor a small team of mechanics, providing guidance, training, and support. Delegate tasks effectively and monitor team performance.

  • Ensure all work is performed to a high standard of quality and adheres to safety regulations and company procedures. Conduct final inspections of completed work.

  • Utilize diagnostic equipment and technical manuals to identify and resolve complex vehicle issues.

  • Work hand-in-hand with Supply Chain for ordering and managing parts inventory, ensuring availability of necessary components.

  • Maintain accurate records of all work performed, including diagnoses, repairs, and parts used.

  • Adhere to all safety regulations and maintain a clean and organized work environment.

  • Stay up-to-date with the latest automotive technologies and repair techniques. Participate in training and development opportunities.



Qualifications and Experience




  • Proven experience as a Light Vehicle Mechanic, with a minimum of 7 years of experience.

  • Strong diagnostic and troubleshooting skills.

  • Comprehensive knowledge of light vehicle systems and components.

  • Ability to use diagnostic equipment and technical manuals.

  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.

  • Valid driver's license.

  • Experience with a variety of vehicle makes and models.
