Job Summary




  • The Credit Officer will be tasked with the responsibility of evaluating loan applications to determine the eligibility of an applicant for a loan option, assessing creditworthiness, scrutinizing credit risk and ensuring compliance with company policies and regulatory requirements.

  • You will play a crucial role in the lending process by providing accurate credit assessments and recommendations to support our clients' financial needs.

  • Ultimately, the ideal candidate should have excellent oral and written communication skills to be able to effectively liaise with clients and should possess the capacity to work in a fast-paced environment.



Responsibilities




  • Review and analyze loan applications and financial documents to determine credit risk.

  • Conduct credit checks and assess the creditworthiness of applicants.

  • Evaluate applicants' financial status, credit history, and ability to repay loans.

  • Make informed recommendations regarding loan approvals or denials.

  • Ensure compliance with lending policies, regulations, and procedures.

  • Communicate with applicants to gather additional information and clarify any discrepancies.

  • Prepare detailed reports and documentation for loan decisions.

  • Collaborate with other departments to ensure a smooth loan processing experience.

  • Maintain records of loan applications and monitor payments.



Requirements and Skills




  • B.Sc. in any related discipline.

  • Must have completed NYSC.

  • Minimum of 3 - 5 years’ work experience as a credit officer in a financial sector is mandatory.

  • Proficient in Microsoft Word, Excel and Power Point

  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills.

  • Strong organizational skills and ability to multi-task.

  • Strong leadership skills
