Job Description
Job Purpose:
The Account Officer will be responsible for ensuring accurate and timely financial record-keeping, supporting financial operations, and maintaining compliance with organizational policies and donor requirements.
Key Responsibilities:
- Maintain accurate and up-to-date financial records, including receipts, invoices, and payments.
- Assist in the preparation of financial statements and reports in compliance with organizational policies and regulatory requirements.
- Support the monitoring of project budgets and ensure expenditures align with approved budgets.
- Conduct regular bank reconciliations and resolve any discrepancies promptly.
- Prepare and manage monthly, quarterly, and annual financial reports.
- Ensure timely preparation of accounts in line with donor and NGO-specific reporting standards.
- Ensure compliance with donor regulations, tax laws, and internal financial policies.
- Assist in internal and external audits by providing necessary financial documentation.
Qualifications and Requirements:
- Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance, or a related field.
- Minimum of 2–5 years of post-NYSC accounting experience, preferably in an NGO setting.
- Proficiency in preparing accounts and financial statements in line with NGO-specific requirements.
- Strong knowledge of accounting software and ERP systems.
- High level of proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite (Excel, Word, and PowerPoint).
- Strong analytical, organizational, and communication skills.
- Ability to work independently and collaboratively in a team environment.
