About the job
- Develop and implement the organization’s legal strategy, ensuring alignment with business goals and regulatory requirements.
- Provide strategic counsel to the Board of Directors, MD, and senior leadership on corporate governance, compliance, and risk management.
- Oversee all legal matters related to corporate structure, intellectual property, litigation and mergers & acquisitions.
- Ensure Babban Gona’s full compliance with local, national, and international laws governing agribusiness, financial services, and technology.
- Identify potential legal risks and develop proactive mitigation strategies.
- Stay updated on evolving regulations and provide recommendations for compliance adjustments.
- Draft, review, and negotiate a wide range of commercial contracts, including partnership agreements, vendor contracts and financing agreements.
- Participate in the investment, valuation and risk management processes.
- Assist the Leadership team with strategic decisions and business initiatives associated with fundraising, marketing, and investor relations.
- Build a network of institutional investor relationships as a foundation for future capital raises; lead investor due diligence, transaction advisory, and closing.
- Develop and manage communication protocols for all boarded investors, including distribution of periodic performance updates and financial information.
- Develop a thorough understanding of investors’ investments and activity in order to competently represent the company and report to investors;
- Manage partners and third-party vendors such as legal counsel and marketing consultants;
- Manage certain levels of investor communication such as transaction announcements (new deals, add-ons, exits);
- Work with senior leadership and external consultants to optimize and maintain the Babban Gona brand.
- Manage and coach team of Senior Associates, Associates and Analysts
Requirements
Experience in Legal and Government Relations Role
- Bachelor’s degree in Law
- 8+ years’ proven relevant work experience. Experience gained in a professional services firm will be an added advantage
- Strong working knowledge of industry legal requirements and controls
- Related experience in a Investor Relations role within a fast-moving and dynamic business environment, preferably in a senior investor relations role
- Good knowledge of legal requirements and procedures
- Brilliant oral and written communication skills
- Fluency in industry practices and professional standards
- Highly-analytical with strong attention to detail
