Job Summary




  • The Account Officer will be responsible for overseeing the financial transactions, ensuring accurate financial records, and assisting with budgeting, reporting, and financial analysis. 

  • This role involves working closely with the finance team to maintain the integrity of financial data, process payments, and support day-to-day financial operations.



Key Responsibilities

Accounting and Bookkeeping:




  • Maintain accurate records of all financial transactions, including accounts payable, accounts receivable, and general ledger entries.

  • Process invoices and prepare payments to vendors and suppliers in a timely manner.

  • Reconcile bank statements, accounts, and assist with month-end/year-end closing.

  • Monitor daily cash flow, process cash receipts, and disbursements.



Financial Reporting:




  • Assist in the preparation of financial reports, such as balance sheets, income statements, and cash flow statements.

  • Help prepare financial statements and reports for management, ensuring compliance with company policies and accounting standards.

  • Assist in preparing budgets and forecasts.



Tax and Compliance:




  • Assist in the preparation of tax filings, including VAT, sales tax, and other relevant tax returns.

  • Ensure compliance with all local accounting standards, tax laws, and company policies.

  • Collaborate with external auditors during audits and provide necessary documentation.



Accounts Payable and Receivable:




  • Process and manage payments for services, products, and other expenses.

  • Coordinate with internal teams and vendors to resolve discrepancies in accounts.

  • Follow up on overdue payments and manage collections effectively.



Data Management and Analysis:




  • Maintain accurate and organized financial data within the accounting system.

  • Analyse financial trends and performance to support decision-making and reporting.

  • Assist in managing financial data for audits, compliance reviews, and internal controls.



Other Responsibilities:




  • Provide support to the finance team in ad-hoc accounting tasks and projects.

  • Assist in improving accounting processes and automation.

  • Ensure confidentiality and security of financial data.



Qualifications

Education:




  • Bachelor's degree in Accounting, Finance, or a related field (or equivalent work experience).



Experience:




  • Minimum of 2-5 years of experience in accounting or finance, preferably in a similar role.

  • Proficiency in accounting software (e.g., Tally).

  • Strong understanding of accounting principles and financial regulations.

  • Post ICAN an added advantage.
