Job Summary
- The Product Manager – Lubricants is responsible for the development, management, and growth of the lubricant product line.
- This includes market analysis, product innovation, sales strategy, and customer engagement to drive revenue growth and competitive advantage.
- The role requires a deep understanding of lubricant formulations, industry regulations, and market dynamics within Nigeria's oil and gas sector.
Key Responsibilities
Product Strategy & Development:
- Develop and execute the lubricant product roadmap in alignment with company objectives.
- Oversee new product development (NPD), formulation improvements, and packaging design.
- Ensure compliance with industry standards (API, SAE, OEM approvals, SON, NMDPRA, DPR).
- Work with R&D and supply chain teams to enhance product quality and cost efficiency.
Market Research & Competitive Analysis:
- Conduct market research to identify customer needs, industry trends, and competitor strategies.
- Analyze product performance and recommend enhancements to drive sales growth.
- Develop pricing strategies based on market demand, competitor analysis, and cost structure.
Sales & Business Development Support:
- Collaborate with the sales team to develop go-to-market strategies and meet revenue targets.
- Provide technical product training to sales teams, distributors, and key customers.
- Identify and develop new B2B and B2C market opportunities for lubricant products.
Brand Positioning & Marketing:
- Work with the marketing team to develop product messaging, advertising, and promotional campaigns.
- Implement trade marketing and customer engagement strategies to increase brand awareness.
- Represent the company at industry events, trade fairs, and exhibitions to promote lubricants.
Supply Chain & Operations Management:
- Ensure efficient inventory management, production planning, and distribution.
- Collaborate with procurement teams to source base oils, additives, and packaging materials.
- Optimize logistics to minimize stock shortages and ensure product availability.
Compliance & Quality Assurance:
- Ensure all lubricants meet regulatory and industry certification requirements.
- Work with regulatory bodies to obtain and maintain necessary product approvals.
Performance Monitoring & Reporting:
- Track key performance indicators (KPIs) such as sales volume, market share, and customer feedback.
- Prepare reports and insights for senior management decision-making.
- Continuously improve product offerings based on market trends and performance data.
Key Requirements
Education & Experience:
- Bachelor’s degree in Business Administration, or related field.
- 5+ years of experience in lubricant product management, sales, or technical roles within the oil & gas sector.
Skills & Competencies:
- Strong technical knowledge of lubricants, additives, and industry applications.
- Expertise in market analysis, pricing strategy, and product positioning.
- Solid experience in B2B and B2C sales, distributor management, and customer engagement.
- Strong project management, leadership, and cross-functional collaboration skills.
- Ability to develop and execute data-driven strategies for product growth.
