Job Summary
- The Vice-Chancellor will serve as the Chief Executive Officer of the University, providing strategic leadership to achieve the institution’s vision of academic and operational excellence.
- The role involves leading the university to financial self-sustainability, building strong local and international partnerships, and fostering a culture of innovation and collaboration.
Key Responsibilities
- Build and manage academic and non-academic partnerships with high-ranking international institutions within the first year of appointment.
- Represent the university in diverse external constituencies, including civic leaders, donors, and alumni.
- Spearhead policy formulation, strategic planning, and initiatives to achieve academic and professional excellence.
- Provide leadership in academic standards, programme review, curriculum development, and long-range planning.
- Serve as a member of the Governing Council, presenting recommendations and ensuring efficient governance.
- Promote harmony and collaboration among staff, students, and the university’s stakeholders.
- Develop budgetary strategies, oversee resource allocation, and ensure financial accountability across departments.
Requirements
- A distinguished academic scholar with a rank of Professor in social sciences or related fields and at least eight (8) years of experience at that level.
- Minimum of ten (10) years of leadership experience within an academic environment.
- Proven ability to attract funding and establish partnerships with local and international organisations.
