Job Description
Key Responsibilities
- Leadership and Supervision: Manage a team of packaging maintenance technicians, assigning tasks, providing training, and evaluating performance to ensure efficient operations.
- Preventative Maintenance: Develop and implement comprehensive preventative maintenance schedules for all packaging equipment, including inspections, lubrication, and component replacements to prevent breakdowns.
- Troubleshooting and Repairs: Diagnose and resolve equipment malfunctions quickly, coordinating with technicians to repair or replace faulty components.
- Equipment Optimization: Identify opportunities to improve packaging equipment performance, including upgrades, modifications, and process adjustments to maximize efficiency and minimize downtime.
- Cost Management: Monitor maintenance budgets, track repair costs, and identify cost-saving measures to optimize resource allocation.
- Compliance and Safety: Ensure adherence to all safety regulations and quality standards related to packaging equipment, including proper documentation and reporting
- Project Management: Oversee installation and upgrades of new packaging equipment, coordinating with project teams and vendors
Relevant Qualification and Work Experience
- Previous experience as a maintenance technician or supervisor in a packaging environment
- Degree or equivalent in Mechanical Engineering, Materials Technology, Food Science, Business Management, Chemistry, Logistics, Industrial Engineering, or Process Engineering.
- 2 – 3 years work experience in a similar position
- Computer literate
- Proactive and able to implement continual improvement program.
- Knowledge of specific packaging machinery like filling lines, sealing equipment, labeling systems, and conveyors
- Familiarity with industry standards and regulations related to packaging equipment
Required Skills:
- Technical Expertise: Strong understanding of mechanical, electrical, and pneumatic systems commonly used in packaging machinery.
- Maintenance Management: Proven experience in developing and managing preventative maintenance programs.
- Troubleshooting Skills: Ability to diagnose equipment malfunctions and identify root causes effectively.
- Leadership Abilities: Excellent communication, team building, and problem-solving skills to manage a maintenance team
- Computer Proficiency: Familiarity with CMMS (Computerized Maintenance Management Systems) to track maintenance activities and spare parts inventory
