Job Description
Objectives of this Role:
- Facilitate effective communication between Chinese-speaking and English-speaking stakeholders within the company.
- Translate documents, manuals, reports, and business correspondence from Chinese to English and vice versa, ensuring accuracy and clarity.
- Provide real-time interpretation during meetings, training sessions, and factory visits to support seamless operations.
- Assist in bridging cultural differences by explaining cultural nuances that may impact business or communication.
- Collaborate with various departments to support translation needs and ensure consistency in terminology and language usage.
Responsibilities:
- Document Translation: Translate a variety of written materials, including technical manuals, contracts, emails, and reports, maintaining the original meaning, tone, and context.
- Interpretation Services: Provide consecutive or simultaneous interpretation during meetings, negotiations, training sessions, and other events involving Chinese and English speakers.
- Technical Translation: Accurately translate technical documents related to manufacturing processes, equipment specifications, and quality control procedures.
- Cultural Mediation: Explain cultural references and nuances to facilitate mutual understanding and effective communication between parties.
- Collaboration: Work closely with departments such as engineering, production, quality assurance, and human resources to address translation needs and support cross-functional projects.
- Proofreading and Editing: Review translated materials for grammatical accuracy, consistency, and alignment with company standards.
- Terminology Management: Develop and maintain a glossary of industry-specific terms to ensure consistency in translations.
- Confidentiality: Handle sensitive information with discretion and maintain confidentiality of all translated materials.
- Training Support: Assist in translating training materials and support trainers in delivering content to Chinese-speaking or English-speaking employees.
- Administrative Support: Aid in the preparation and translation of marketing materials, presentations, and other documents as needed.
Preferred Skills:
- Proficiency in both written and spoken Chinese and English.
- Strong understanding of technical terminology related to the manufacturing and FMCG sectors.
- Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
- Ability to provide accurate and culturally sensitive translations and interpretations.
- Strong organizational skills and attention to detail.
- Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite and familiarity with translation software tools.
- Ability to work under pressure and manage multiple tasks simultaneously.
- Strong interpersonal skills and the ability to work effectively in a multicultural environment.
Preferred Qualifications:
- Bachelor’s degree in any field.
- At least 2 years of professional experience as a translator or interpreter, preferably in a manufacturing or FMCG environment.
- Certification in translation or interpretation is compulsory.
- Familiarity with technical documentation and industry-specific terminology.
- Experience in cross-cultural communication and cultural sensitivity training.
- Ability to work flexible hours to accommodate meetings with international stakeholders.
- Strong problem-solving skills and adaptability to various communication challenges.
- High level of professionalism and commitment to maintaining confidentiality.
