Job Description
Job Summary
Building a startup is a wild ride, and investor relations is at the heart of the journey—balancing storytelling, financial strategy, and relationship management. We are looking for an Investor Relations Lead who thrives in high-pressure environments, understands the intricacies of startup growth, and can craft compelling narratives that connect investors with our vision. From financial modeling marathons to last-minute pitch deck overhauls, you’ll be in the trenches with the executive team, ensuring our investor communications align with our business strategy. If you get a thrill from breaking down complex financials, love engaging with stakeholders, and can roll with the punches in a fast-moving environment, we’d love to have you on board.
What You’ll Be Doing
- Investor Engagement: Cultivate relationships with current and potential investors, ensuring transparency and trust in all communications.
- Strategic Storytelling: Develop compelling narratives around our company’s growth, financial performance, and market potential.
- Financial Modeling & Analysis: Work closely with the finance team to translate business strategies into investor-ready models and reports.
- Fundraising Support: Assist in fundraising efforts by preparing investor decks, financial projections, and due diligence materials.
- Market Intelligence: Keep a pulse on industry trends, competitor activity, and macroeconomic shifts that impact our business and investors.
- Regulatory Compliance: Ensure that all investor communications adhere to financial regulations and disclosure requirements.
- Communication: Navigate challenging investor conversations with confidence, whether it’s a pivot, a budget shift, or a tough quarter.
What You’ll Need
- Strong experience in investor relations, corporate finance, venture capital, or startup fundraising.
- A deep understanding of financial modeling, valuation methods, and capital markets.
- Exceptional communication skills—you can break down complex financials into compelling, investor-friendly insights.
- The ability to thrive under pressure (late-night strategy calls and last-minute model revisions don’t scare you).
- A high level of adaptability—startups evolve fast, and so should you.
- Experience working with founders, VCs, and other financial stakeholders, preferably in fast-growing companies.
- Bonus: Experience in African markets or emerging economies and a solid grasp of the fundraising landscape in these regions.
